Investment banking is a career that requires more than just an undergraduate degree. You require a certain level of GPA, special capabilities, and a robust network to enter the field. Many aspiring financial professionals are curious about which schools will be the most beneficial in getting their job.
Typically investment banks that are in the bulk bracket employ associate and analyst positions at some universities. These are known as “target schools.” If you’re hoping to secure an executive position at a top investment bank, it’s crucial that you attend one of these schools.
The top investment banking schools are those which consistently send a substantial amount of graduates to the biggest investment banks, and have impressive numbers of students enrolled in undergrad programs. This year, Cornell tops the list of the top investment banking schools, followed by MIT and Columbia. All three schools are Ivy League and have a history of sending graduates to Wall Street. The University of Texas at Austin is a third school that was selected. The McCombs School of Business offers the option of a finance track as well as a finance major.
It will be a lot more difficult to be accepted into an investment bank that is top-of-the-line in the event that you don’t attend the school of your choice.
